Frank Wallace Signed 1950s Woodblock Prints + Sketches
This listing is for a set of fourteen original woodblock prints and three sketches by the artist Frank King Wallace (1918-2003) of Greensboro, Vermont. The works are being sold by a close personal friend of Wallace who inherited them after his death. Most of them are signed, numbered, and dated but a few are not. These works are in good condition overall with light scuffs and minor wear on the edges including creases and a few tears. A couple of them have pinholes in the corners. Some information on the artist:
Wallace was a political radical and was blacklisted in the mid 1950s and left the country for a number of years. He lived in Europe, studying and spending time with well known contemporary artists such as Demetrius Galanis. He sold pieces to a number of high society collectors throughout the world, including Nelson A. Rockefeller and Hazel Guggenheim McKinley. His work is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as in Paris and Vienna.
