Antique 1878 Jardine & Sons Tracker Church Pipe Organ
This listing is for a rare antique Tracker Organ that was built in 1878 by George Jardine & Sons in New York City. The organ was originally built for St. James Episcopal Church in Goshen, New York. It was moved and rebuilt in 1927 by William F. Smith for use as a chancel organ in the Lower Church of St. Nicholas Church of Tolentine in Bronx, New York. The organ was moved to the chancel of the Upper Church and rebuilt again by William Baker in 1978. In 1988, the organ was sold to Trinity Episcopal Church in Shelburne, Vermont. The organ was renovated and improved at this time by Watersmith Pipe Organs, and a new Oboe was installed. The Melodia is probably not original but it is of black walnut wood. The organ is approximately 9 feet in depth, 8 feet in width and 14 feet in height.
Some European pipe organs have been in use for 500 years. This organ is in very good overall condition and is only 130 years old! It goes out of tune easily and various parts need to be replaced, so will need some restoration. We have included an extensive set of 50 photos below. This organ is available for pickup only in Shelburne, Vermont, and will need to be disassembled in order to remove it from the building. The winning bidder will be responsible for all dismantling, crating and transportation of the organ. Due to the time necessary to coordinate and move this instrument, we are flexible with the timing of the pickup. Please contact Global Garage Sale with any questions or to set up a time to see the organ.
