Vintage Antique Washburn Parlor Acoustic Guitar W/ Case

This listing is for a very rare antique Washburn parlor guitar dating from around 1900. There is limited information available to properly date this beautiful instrument. A call to Washburn didn't help at all since they are now owned by another company and have no old records. Online records of Washburn serial numbers don't seem to go back that far. This guitar has been in the sellers family since the 1920s. Printed on the inner label is "No. A 32987" and this number matches the one that is stamped inside under the neck. Also stamped inside is "New Model" and the wood is imprinted with the George Washburn logo. The guitar has fantastic tone and plays very well, especially lower down on the neck. It has a full, rich sound with surprisingly nice bass for the size of the body. The intonation is not perfect, but is very close for an instrument that has not been played or had a setup for years. There are intricate mother of pearl fretboard inlays on the 1st, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 12th frets. The top looks to be solid Spruce with very nice straight grain, and the back and sides appears to be Brazilian Rosewood. There is some gorgeous inlay binding around the soundhole and the edge of the top. The neck is Ebony with binding all the way around. The fretboard has 19 frets and measures 1 3/4" inches wide at the nut and 2 5/16" inches at the soundhole end. There is virtually no wear to the frets, most likely indicating they were replaced at some time. The neck is slightly bowed and fits tight to the body. The guitar measures approximately 37.5" inches long, 13" inches wide, and 4" inches deep. The action at the twelfth fret is about .25" inch. It looks like the bridge has been removed and replaced, and is now being used as a saddle for a trapeze style bridge that has been mounted to the back. It is in very good overall condition with some moderate cracks around the sides below the soundhole. We tried to show these as best as possible in the photos. There are also two small cracks on the inside edge of the bridge and some slight wear where a pickguard would go. The case is not original.
