Edison Amberola VIII Cylinder Phonograph Record Player
This listing is for an antique Edison Amberola VIII cylinder phonograph, serial number 2723. This beautiful instrument is in an oak case that measures about 15.5" inches wide, 16.5" inches deep, and 15.5" inches high. The seller told us it worked great in the past, and as kids they used to play the cylinders for fun. She remembers that the handle used to periodically become disconnected from the spring mechanism, and her father would fix it easily when it would happen. She does not know what he did to hook it back together, and we did not want to mess with the mechanism itself. The cylinder itself rotates smoothly. There are screws missing from the base of the horn and the front of the metal plateThe phonograph is in good cosmetic condition with moderate scuffs and wear. This listing has no reserve price so don't miss your chance to win!
Some information from the Intertique website:
The Amberola VIII was one of the early internal horn Amberola models. It was introduced in 1913 before the great factory fire and predates the more commonly seen Amberola 30, which is similar in size. The Amberola VIII had a more robust case than the 30, using less veneer, and employed an adapted Fireside motor and upperworks.
