Signed Itzchak Tarkay Acrylic Painting Outside The City
This listing is for an original signed work by the artist Itzchak Tarkay. Its title is "Outside The City" and it consists of acrylic paint on board. The painting was created in 1985 and purchased from Queen Art Publishers in 2005. It's signed in Hebrew in the bottom left corner and appears on page 11 of the book Itzchak Tarkay Works on Paper. The painting measures 20 1/2" inches by 24 1/2" inches and the viewable portion is 20" inches by 24" inches. The frame measures about 35 1/2" inches by 39 1/2" inches. The painting comes with the certificate of authenticity and has a replacement value of $18,000. "Itzchak Tarkay (born 1935) is an Austrian-born Israeli painter and watercolourist.
"In 1944, Tarkay and his family were sent to the Mauthausen Concentration Camp, until Allied liberation freed them a year later. In 1949 his family emigrated to Israel, living in a kibbutz for several years. Tarkay attended the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design from 1951, and graduated from from the Avni Institute of Art in 1956.
"His art is influenced by French Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism, particularly Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec. His work was exhibited at the International Art Expo in New York in 1986 and 1987, and he has been the subject of three books."
