Hand Signed Maria Laredo 1979 New Orleans Jazz Fest Festival Poster LE/1000
This listing is for a rare print by New Orleans artist Maria Laredo. The piece is hand signed, titled and numbered (511/1000) at the bottom. This beautiful silk screened poster was made in 1979 for the New Orleans Jazz Festival, and is most likely one of only a few that survived Katrina. It was appraised at $900 in 2005, a month before the hurricane, by the Bergen Putman Gallery in New Orleans. The last public sale of one of these posters was for $1,800 in 2006. A 1976 version sold online in 2011 for $1,400. The poster is printed on heavy textured paper. We believe the featured musician is Fats Waller, but we are not certain. The poster measures 27.25" x 18.5" inches and is mounted in a wooden frame that measures 38.5" x 29" inches. The paper backing is torn and the cardboard backing is loose at the top. We will be able to ship for a lower cost if the winning bidder is not interested in the frame. The bidding starts at a very reasonbable price, so don't miss your chance to win!
