Vintage Gretsch Open Back 5-String Banjo With Hardshell Case
This listing is for a vintage Gretsch, open-back 5-string banjo. The number 5623 is stamped into the dowel rod on the back. We do not know the age of this instrument. The banjo has a plastic head and a new Grover bridge. The neck is straight and the Grover tuners are tight and smooth. The J-bolts all appear to be straight. The banjo sounds nice and bright and seems to play well. The rim and neck are in very nice condition with some minor scuffs and dings. There is some crazing to the finish on the headstock and some pitting on the tailpiece. The banjo measures 37" inches in total length. The rim measures 10.75" inches in diameter and the neck measures 19" inches long. At one time there were two additional tuning gears installed in the middle of the head, supposedly to minimize stress of some sort. The heavy duty, plush-lined case has some normal scuffs and scratches on the outside. We have a low opening bid, so don't miss your chance to win!
