Antique Samuel Terry Transitional Wood Wooden Works Movement Mantle Shelf Clock
This listing is for an antique Samuel Terry clock. We've seen this style of clock referred to as "transitional" as opposed to the "pillar & scroll" style and believe it was built in the early 1800s. The clock has a large face on top and a picture back-painted on glass on the bottom. Inside, the movement is constructed primarily of wood with a metal weight on either side and a pendulum at the bottom. The clock has scuffs and wear including some cracks in the wood and a few loose pieces of veneer. The glass on top appears to have been reaffixed with a dark-colored adhesive. There are several small holes inside and most of the inner label is intact. There appears to be old newsprint on the back which has the year 1876 on it. The key in the lock doesn't seem to come out and there is another larger key included that may not belong to it. We attemped to wind the clock with the winding key but weren't able to make it run and did not want to risk damaging it. Because of this, it may or may not work and is being sold as-is. We cannot guarantee that all of the parts included are original. This listing has no reserve price so don't miss your chance to win!
