Vega Vegaphone Professional 5 String Open Back Banjo Short Scale MOP Inlay 81575
This listing is for a Vega Vegaphone Professional, Open Back, 5 String Banjo. This is a beautiful instrument with a clear head and "Planet" tuning pegs. This is a Short Scale Banjo that measures 33" long with a neck of 15 3/4" and 19 frets. The head measures 11" across and the nut is 1". The banjo is fully strung and plays well, the action at the 12th fret is 5/32". There is a Mother Of Pearl Vega Logo on the headstock and an ornate design on the first fret with a star at the fifth fret and normal fret dots at the 3rd, 7th, 12th, and 17th frets. On the Dowel Stick in the back of the banjo are the words Vegaphone, Professional, and "Made By The Vega Company, Boston, Mass. USA". It also has "PAT Dec, 30 1890, Jan 10, 1893, July 27, 1909" (these dates are hard to read, but this is what we believe they say). The serial number is 81575 and is on both the tone ring and the dowel stick. Not all of the Hex Nuts are identical (about 5 of them seem to be different). This listing also includes a soft shell case that has some wear. There is some wear on this instrument from playing and age with the arm rest having some denting and discoloration, but the banjo appears to be in very good condition.
