Rare Antique 1890-1910 Tibetan Thangka Painting On Cloth Buddhist Art 33"x23" NR

This listing is for a wonderful antique Tibetan thangka. It was bought during a trip to Asia in the late 1800s or early 1900s. We believe it is a representation of Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava. The thangka is painted on heavy cloth that feels a bit like canvas. The dark colors on much of the painting are unique and quite different from the bright colors of most thangkas. The photos were taken using a flash, so the colors in natural light will be slightly different. It measures 34" inches tall and 22 7/8" inches wide. The thangka is in excellent overall condition. There are a few small worn spots as well as a few small areas that look to have been retouched at one time (see close-up photos below). There is a frame shown in the last few photos that is only available if the winning bidder picks up the thangka at our Vermont store.
