This listing is for an antique framed needlepoint or cross stitch sampler made around 1858 for a family with the name of Marlow. We aren't sure if it's needlepoint or cross stitch. The seller found this sampler behind a picture their parents had owned for decades; the seller decided to change the frame on the picture one day and found this sampler behind it. It lists six births (five girls and one boy), as well as one marriage for one of the girls (at age 24, and it lists a different last name). There is a stitched and beaded cross and stitched roses at the top, and more stitched roses at the bottom. The sampler has discoloration from age and perhaps a small amount of moisture. We notice one thin crack in the backing and the frame has scuffs, chips and cracks, mostly on the left side. The backing had newspaper on it at one time, of which some still remains. The backing board is cracked vertically and is held on with clasps the seller applied herself. This listing has no reserve price so don't miss your chance to win!
