TC Brown Westhead Moore Co Majolica Game Rabbit Bird Pie Tureen Covered Dish NR!
This listing is for a lovely piece of majolica earthenware pottery. Based on our research, this piece was most likely produced in the mid- to late 1800s and is known as a game tureen or game pie tureen. It could also be considered a covered dish. The lid features a colorful raised design featuring rabbits, game birds, and flowers and leaves. The dish itself, as well as the plate underneath, have a realistic basketweave pattern. All three pieces have a lovely blue glaze inside. The bottom plate is marked "T.C. Brown. Westhead Moore & Co." The piece is in good condition overall with some crazing in the lid and the dish itself was repaired using a staple, the common method for repairing damaged ceramics during the 19th century.
