RARE Vintage 1970s Gibson PROTOTYPE Banjo Uke Ukelele OOAK One Of A Kind!!
This listing is for a very rare 1970s Gibson Prototype Banjo Ukelele. It is being sold by the original owner who was a top executive at Gibson in the mid 1970s when this was made. Gibson produced a number of banjo ukelele models in the 1920s and 1930s. They were considering putting one back into production, so had this prototype made. Apparently, it was a combination of high cost and lack of interest that led to the shelving of the project. This instrument will come with a letter of authenticity from the seller. It looks and sounds great, and is in very good overall condition. There is some pitting to the metal tailpiece and minor tarnishing to some of the other metal that may clean off. The back has some light scratches. There is some minor flaking of the varnish around two of the tuning pegs on the back side of the headstock. There are a few spots on one of the metal rings where it looks like clear varnish has hardened. Please see the measurements and detailed photos below, and contact us with any questions before bidding. Don't miss your chance to add this rare Gibson to your collection!
