Vtg Antique Signed Nagamura Kiyonobu WWII Gendaito Katana Samurai Sword NO RES!
This listing is for a vintage/antique Samurai Sword. It is a very nice hand-forged WWII Gendaito Katana made by Nagamura Kiyonobu. Nagamura is a listed swordsmith found on page 80 in the John Scott Slough book. Based on our research, the marks on the tang read 'Nagamura Kiyonobu Kitau kore'. There are also some blue paint marks on the other side of the tang. The mounts are WWII Japanese Kyu Gunto type 98. All of the spacers are marked '12'. The blade is quite sharp and measures 25" inches long, not including the 1" brass piece that abuts the tsuba. The blade appears to be in very good overall condition with minor scratches, so tiny dings on the edge (mostly near the tip), and some pitting near the base. The tang has some surface rust seen in the photos. The handle has some minor wear to the leather wrap on the lower end, and minor damage to the white material around the meguki hole. The saya has scratches, small dings, and several dents. The saya band (fuchi) is loose and slides up and down. The tassles look to be in good condition. There is no meguki pin. We are including a vintage Samurai sword book and a pair of wooden wall mounts. Please see the detailed photos below and contact us with any questions before bidding. The sword is being sold as-is with no returns. We have a low opening bid price, so don't miss your chance to win!
