Antique Ansonia Bronze Figural Mantel Mantle Shelf Clock Patent 1882 Lady w/Book
This listing is for a gorgeous Antique Ansonia Mantle Clock. It is an ornate bronze figural with a woman reading a book and leaning against the clock. We were unable to find another one just like this anywhere online despite searching for quite a while. This is an open escapement clock with gears visible in the front. The movement has a patent date of 1882. It comes with an Ansonia key that we believe to be original. The clock was in good working condition many years ago when it was last used. We wound it and gently swung the pendulum. The clock ran for a few seconds before the pendulum stopped. We tried this several times with the same results, so it needs some sort of maintenance to run properly. The chime did sound when we turned the hands. The pin that holds the hands in place is a bit loose, so there is a small piece of paper underneath it to keep it tight. The clock has some minor scratches, dings, and flaking paint. Because of these issues the clock is being sold as-is with no returns. The clock measures about 17 1/2" inches wide, 15" tall 7 1/2" wide, and weighs over 24 pounds.
