Vtg Antique New Haven Eight 8-Day Shelf Mantle Clock Indicator Pendulum Pat 1881

This listing is for an antique New Haven 8-day mantle clock. We believe it may be known as a "kitchen" clock. The pendulum has an indicator (but no needle) and a patent date of March 1st, 1881. A handwritten note inside indicates the clock appears as number 492 on page 283 of A Treasury of American Clocks by Brooks Palmer. The glass is reverse painted in gold and pink with an Asian-inspired design featuring a bird, an insect, and a hand fan. The clock has scuffs and wear from use. Most of the finish on the face is worn off and the clock has a couple of horizontal cracks towards the top and a small missing piece of trim on the back. The clock was reportedly working when last used which was years ago. There are several screw holes where the face sits. The clock comes with two keys, several screws, a hand that almost fits the pendulum, and a small metal dish which was used to burn kerosene to oil the inside of the clock. We wound the central shaft about half a turn and the clock ran briefly, chiming eight times. Due to the age and condition of this clock, it's selling as-is for parts or repair and would make a great project.
