This listing is for an awesome piece of U.S. Olympic history. It is a hockey stick that belonged to John Verchota, the player who scored the tying goal in the third period of the gold medal game against Sweden. The stick was was found in Verchota's "dorm" room after the Olympics. It is a CCM PPM-101 model with Verchota's name printed on the side near the top. His gloves and helmet from the 1980 Olympics are now displayed in the Smithsonian Institution Building, commonly known as the “Castle”. The stick does not appear to be used. It is in good overall condition with some scratches and dings, as well as some magic marker writing in several places. Verchot's name is somewhat faded. There are two signatures on the stick that do not look real. Please see the photos below, and contact us with any questions before bidding. We have a low opening bid so don't miss your chance to add this to your collection!
