Rare 1980 Mary Regat Studios Alaska Red Fox Bronze Sculpture 15" Ltd Ed 6/25

This listing is for a wonderful vintage Bronze Sculpture by Mary Regat of Regat Studios in Anchorage, Alaska. It is marked '6/25 1980 M. Regat' on the back. Based on our research, this piece is titled 'Adam & Eve'. The sculpture measures 15 1/2" inches long including the wooden base, and weighs over 14 pounds. Mary Regat, primarily a self-taught artist, began sculpting while living in a remote logging camp on Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska. Her first effort was a 28-foot dug out canoe. Traveling north she took up residence in Anchorage, Alaska and began sculpting in stone. Her style is expressive and impressionistic, capturing the emotions and moods of her subjects.  Twenty years ago, making Anchorage their home, Jacques and Mary met and married, and they began combining their talents to create pieces which extended beyond what either one could do alone. "Sculpting together is like having a whole set of new tools to work with," said Mary. Together they studied art at the University of Alaska, Mayan Toltec art in Central and South America and European art in France.
 
The Regats are currently working in bronze, silver, wood and paint. They are currently displaying in more than twenty galleries on a continuous basis throughout the United States and Canada. Many of their sculptures are included in public and private collections throughout the world. Jacques and Mary feel their greatest recognition has come from the general public, which has supported their endeavors throughout the years.
