Antique Allen & Thurber .31 Caliber Single Shot Pistol Patent 1845
This listing is for an Antique Allen & Thurber Single Shot Pistol. Based on our research, this is the Model 9 percussion pistol. It is marked "Allen's Patent 1845" on the top hammer bar, and has serial number 717 on the bottom of the barrel and inside the trigger guard. The opening measures 5/16", which is equal to .31 caliber. The pistol has a 2" inch barrel with the back half having an octagonal shape. It has nice engraving and a walnut handle. The trigger/hammer mechanism works smoothly. The trigger guard is broken near the end that screws into the bottom. It looks like it was repaired (soldered) at one time, but it did not hold.
