Antique JM Cooper 5-Shot .36 Caliber Revolver 5" Barrel
This listing is for an antique J.M. Cooper 5-Shot Revolver. It is marked "COOPER FIRE ARMS MFG. CO FRANKFORD PHILA. PA. PAT. JAN.7, 1851 APR. 25, 1854 SEP.4,1860 SEPT. 1,1863 SEPT. 22,1863" on the top of the barrel. Based on our research, this is the .36 caliber Navy Model, very similar to the Colt Model 1851, and was made between 1864 and 1869. The octagon barrel measures 5” inches long. The serial number 11852 is on on the bottom of the barrel, the bottom of the handle, and the side of the cylinder. The revolver is in fair overall condition. The screw above the pin is missing, and one or two of the other screws are not original. There are several chips out of the handle. The metal has some pitting and corrosion. There are some issues with the trigger/cylinder mechanism. Pulling the trigger only sometimes rotates the cylinder, and the trigger does not always return to the correct position. In some positions the hammer seems stuck and does not pull back. There is quite a bit of play in the cylinder, in some positions more than others. For all these reasons, the gun is being sold as-is with no returns. Please see the detailed photos below and contact us with any questions before bidding.
