Rare Vtg Original 1968 Max Bill Exhibition Poster Kunsthalle Dusseldorf Germany

This listing is for a rare Max Bill Exhibition Poster. It is advertising a 1968 exhibition at the Kunsthalle in Dusseldorf, Germany. This is an original poster, not a modern reproduction. The only other one of these that we could find online sold at auction in 2000 for $268. The poster comes from the archives of a long time poster collector who lived in Switzerland for many years. It measures about 23 x 33 inches and is in very good overall condition with some minor creasing and edge wear, mostly in the lower right corner. Max Bill (1908 – 1994) was a Swiss architect, artist, painter, typeface designer, industrial designer and graphic designer. He studied at the Bauhaus (1927-1929) and remained faithful to that institution's tenets throughout his life. Bill relied on mathematics and geometry to create his paintings and sculptural works, and is associated with the theories of concrete art. His works are abstract, based on grid systems or concerned with geometric conundrums such as the Mobius strip. He was an active member of the Abstraction-Creation group, and was rector of the Ulm Hochschule fur Gestaltung from 1951-1955. He also acted as architect of the HFG's buildings.
