This listing is for a fantastic collection of antique handwritten diaries from Vermont. There are 17 diaries, dating from 1888 to 1934. The diaries have covers with titles including Excelsior Diary, Standard Diary 111, Standard Diary 181, Wanamaker Diary, National Diary, Standard Daily Journal, and Daily Reminder. The keeper of the diaries lived on a farm in rural Vermont (our guess is Addison County). There are entries that talk of moving cows, cleaning barns, going fishing, and delivering butter. Most daily entries start with a mention of the weather. There were frequent visitors to the farm for quilting, meals, and buying eggs. This is an incredible glimpse into early farm life in Vermont. We are also including several other small books that were found with the diaries; an address book, a 1935 Humphrey's Manual, a Crazy Quilt Autograph Book with a number of entries, and one without a cover (in rough shape) that has a poem or saying for most days of the year. This last book also has handwritten names and dates on many pages, perhaps birthdays or death days. Please see the detailed photos below, and contact us with any questions before bidding. We have a low opening bid price, so don't miss your chance to add these to your collection!
