Vtg Villeroy Boch Mettlach 1/2 L .5 Liter German Lidded Beer Stein 2271 Germany
This listing is for a great vintage Villeroy & Boch Mettlach stein. Based on information from our consignor, it was designed by Heinrich Schitt (born 1849) and produced in 1901. It's decorated with an illustration of a man holding up a Falstaffian drunkard while monkeys observe from either side. The stein also has the saying "Wer niemals einen Rausch gehabt der ist kein braver Mann!", which translates roughly as "Who never had a noise that is not a good man!". The stein is in very good condition overall with light wear including one or two tiny dings in the lid and some minor crazing in the base. The bottom has a large space which could be meant to house a music a box, but no music box is included. The base is marked with an incised 0/0, which may indicate a possible factory defect. Please see the photos below to see everything that is included, and contact us with any questions before bidding. We have a low opening bid and no reserve price so don't miss your chance to win!
