This listing is for a lovely antique Queen Louise doll. Based on our research, she was made by Armand Marseille between 1885 and 1930. The doll measures about 23" tall and has a bisque head with a ball joint composition body. Her red lips are open just enough to reveal her teeth. She's marked "Germany Queen Louise 10" on the back of her head, and stamped "Handwerck" on her lower back. The doll has some scuffs and wear including some cracking around the left knee joint. Her eyes have fallen back into her head but they appear to be brown. We will do our best to gently remove them prior to shipping to prevent further damage. The material surrounding her eyes appears to be damaged so she will certainly need some repair in that area. Some of her outfits have some small moth holes but they appear to be in good condition overall. Please see the photos below to see everything that is included, and contact us with any questions before bidding. We have a low opening bid and no reserve price so don't miss your chance to win!
"Armand Marseille was a popular doll manufacturer in the late 1880's and early 1900s. Their products are some of the most common antique dolls found on the market today. They created their famous doll molds, over a span of over 30 years. Although they are known for some fine character dolls and some lovely lady dolls, the great majority of their products were round-faced child dolls, babies, and toddlers. At the height of their production, they produced over 1,000 doll heads per day. While the German company did make all the doll heads, the bodies were brought from other manufacturers and added to the Marseille head molds. Armand Marseille dolls were produced from roughly 1885 until approximately 1930."
