89 Original 1940s WWII Papua New Guinea Natives US Army Press Photos Lot 8"x10"+
This listing is for a great collection of 89 original 1940s photographs taken in Papua New Guinea. These are all original photos, not reproductions or reprints. There are 83 that measure 8"x10" inches, and 6 that are smaller. Most of them show native people, a few with military personnel and/or missionaries. They were part of a huge collection of WWII US Army Press photos, many of which were also taken in New Guinea. These ones do not have the official military censor stamps found on the backs of the others, so were never used as official press photos, but we're almost certain they were taken by the same photographer at the same time. A few of the smaller ones have descriptions written on the backs, including one with a date of May 1942. Most of the photos are in good condition with some creasing and edge wear. There are a number of duplicates included. Please see the detailed photos below, and contact us with any questions before bidding. We have a low opening bid price, so don't miss your chance to add these rare photos to your collection!
