This listing is for a Vintage Singer Model 221K White Featherweight Portable Sewing Machine. This rare 1960s model was called "Pale Turquoise" but appears more as straight white or pale green depending on the lighting. As all previous and followig models stayed along the tradional black color coating, these are known as the 'white' featherweights.
These unique models were lighter and quieter than the traditional black models, and relatively few were made. Also in comparison, the bed extension is shorter and is pressed on with pins as opposed to screws. The bottom tray is a masonite board and is not designer to include the usual felt drip pad. On a functional level, these rare machines shifted from drive-shaft gears to belts to connect the top and rotating hook shafts, which means this model does not need to be routinely greased. This was also the first model to feature a hard-wired power cord, and the 'clam shell' foot controller.
This sewing machine has been tested and is in excellent working condition, with minor wear. The unique green & ivory cloth hard case and the foot pedal have some decent wear.
